Nerea is a linguist and polyglot with many years of experience working in education around the world. She works frequently with bilingualism and multilingualism.

She conducts workshops, facilitates discussions, speaks at events and conferences, and publishes research.

Her current research is  dedicated to the prohibition of Indigenous languages in the USA and how it has impacted society's perspective on multilingualism.

Biography

Nerea Gourlaouen was sentenced to a childhood of cultural and linguistic diversity the

moment she arrived to the world. Born on Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, California to a

Spanish mother and a French father, Nerea was raised in Canada, and spent her youth in

France. She grew up tri-lingual and has always been an advocate of bilingualism and

language acquisition.

Nerea possess’ a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and years of experience in international

education, having worked professionally in numerous countries and a total of 3 continents.

She has taught all age groups and levels from Pre-K to Adult Education. She has extensive

experience teaching in multi-cultural & multi-lingual environments (including bilingual &

immersion programs).

In 2023, Nerea published a thesis on The Prohibition of Indigenous Languages in the USA. It

explores the history of Native American languages, their socio-political connections, their

fate, and how it all contributes to our current unique perspective of language diversity in

the USA.

Nerea conducts talks, facilitates discussions, and provides workshops in a variety of topics

related to linguistic equity & educational strategies.
